Merton is getting ready for a thorough clean-up next year thanks to a £180,000 Government cash boost.
The money has been allocated for a joint initiative by Wimbledon Police and Merton Council, called the Quality of Life Project, which aims to principally deal with the grafitti, fly-tipping and abandoned cars that currently plague the borough.
The project, launched last month in response to residents' concerns, is being led by Sergeant Jo Stanhope,
Police have already targeted fly-tippers at Merantun Way, Colliers Wood and unlicensed traders at Plough Lane
market.
