Wingate and Finchley moved into the top six with a hard-earned victory over Chalfont St Peter on Boxing Day.
Paul Wood put them ahead after 18 minutes, when he seized on a superb crossfield pass from Danny Fitzpatrick, chested the ball down and chipped it over keeper Blackmore for his first goal of the season.
Six minutes later, from a free-kick by Richard Baum, Craig Pope pivoted and drilled home his first goal for Wingate. On Saturday, Wingate are home to Witham Town.
WINGATE AND FINCHLEY: Goodman, Neilsen, Carr, Donn, Pope, Alayinka, Wood (Dineen, 83), Morris, Fitzpatrick, Williams, Baum (Berg, 70). Subs not used: Fisk.
