The body of a woman who lived in Brixton has been found in north Lambeth.
Ugandan national Jacqueline Nyeko, 24, had been staying with friends at a number of addresses around the town and was last seen in St John's Crescent, off Brixton Road, on Thursday, January 10.
Her partially clothed body was found in a storage area under Beckham House on the Ethelred Estate in Black Prince Road, Kennington, on Sunday, January 13.
A post mortem the following day gave the preliminary cause of death as head injuries.
DCI Keith Eldridge, who is leading the investigation, said: "The tragic death of this young woman will be thoroughly investigated by the Serious Crime Group.
"An important aspect of this investigation is to establish Jacqueline's movements on Thursday, January 10, and thereafter.
"I would appeal to anyone who knew Jacqueline or may have seen her after Thursday evening to contact us. The information you have may be vital in finding out what happened to Jacqueline."
Police believe that Jacqueline, who sometimes used the surname Atim, had been eating in McDonald's in Brixton Road on the afternoon of January 10.
DCI Eldridge added: "I would also like to appeal to residents of the Ethelred Estate, specifically those living in Beckham House, to report any behaviour that may have aroused their suspicions."
Anyone with information, or anyone who may have known Jacqueline, is asked to phone 020 8217 6453.
Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
