FIRE deaths in the capital are on the wane according to the latest statistics from the London Fire Brigade.
Two people died and 113 people were injured as a result of fires in their homes. In the same period, firefighters had to rescue 75 people from fires, and many Londoners' homes were damaged and possessions lost due to fire.
So far this year 35 Londoners have died in 30 fires in the home, of which less than half were fitted with smoke alarms.
Assistant Commissioner Max Hood said: "It is encouraging to see that fewer people have died this year, but we still want smoke alarms fitted in every home in London. So, if you don't have a working smoke alarm, go and get one today."
