THE Walthamstow artist who includes the Sultan of Brunei among his clientele is to make good his promise of continuing to tutor local artistic talent.
Clarence Crawford, 64, is soon to retire both from his position as a part-time fine-art tutor at Louisa Oakes College in Chingford and from his day job as funeral director at Walthamstow's Co-operative Funeral Services. Freed from the daily grind Mr Crawford plans to teach enthusiasts for free at his new studio in Hatherley Mews, off Hoe Street.
He said: "They can expect to get very high class one-to-one tuition, close scrutiny of their progress and advice on technique. What I teach is Old Master painting of any subject, although portrait art is my main thing."
Members of this Art Circle will be taught individually or in pairs at evenings and weekends. Mr Crawford is also looking for patrons to support the Art Circle by helping with associated events such as exhibitions.
If you are living or working in the borough and wish to learn a few new techniques from an Old Master then call Clarence Crawford on 020 8520 7011 or 07932 634859.
