LEADERS Teddington extended their 100 per cent record in the Middlesex ECB Premier League to eight wins out of eight when they triumphed by five wickets at Eastcote on Saturday thanks to an unbeaten century from Tom Harrison.
Eastcote batted first and made runs all through the innings after Martin (42) and Jeffrey had given them a good a start. A fine 88 from Goodchild enabled Eastcote to declare at 253-8.
Danny Waugh (5-59) bowled superbly and was well supported by Andrew Whittall (2-104).
Teddington soon lost Andrew Mawson and Adam Tarrant and were up against it at 17-2. But Rob Jones (36) and Harrison put on 70 for the third wicket to pull the innings around.
Jeremy Attfield (74) and Harrison then forged a match winning partnership of 162 for the fourth wicket. Harrison scored the winning runs with two overs to spare and finished on a magnificent 119 n.o., including six sixes and 11 fours.
Teddington's unbeaten record came to an end the very next day when they lost by 89 runs at Hastings & St Leonards Priory in the group final of the ECB Knock Out Cup.
Hastings took full advantage of some wayward Teddington bowling and made 236-8 off the alloted 45 overs, with Jackson slamming a rapid 73.
The best bowling for Teddington came from the spinners Simon Weale (4-40) and Simon Crampton (3-32).
In reply, Teddington never recovered from the departure of Harrison and Attfield to leave them on 57-5. Despite a last wicket stand of 29 from Paul Dancey (16) and Jean Paul Laurent (18 n.o.) Teddington were dismissed for 147.
