WORCESTER Park skipper Dom Fell had to make do with a solitary point despite his side's "best all-round performance of the season so far" in Saturday's draw with Chertsey.
Fell had the rare luxury of declaring inside 55 overs as Park recovered from 6-2 to post 205-8 against their sixth-placed rivals, but was unable to force a win as Chertsey reached 202-8 in reply.
Following an early stutter, Steffan Wegecsanyi(35) added 63 for the third wicket with Gary Marshall, who compiled a measured 43 after taking 28 balls to get off the mark.
Rob Hill (32 n.o.) then shared a 57-run fourth-wicket stand with Marshall in the face of testing spells from Boast (3-58) and Bussey (3-55). Park's total was swelled by 43 extras that included 19 wides.
The game was up for grabs throughout Chertsey's reply. After a brace of
cheap wickets, opener Allen (48) and skipper Fin O'Keefe (41) steadied the innings.
Steve Daniell took a stunning slip catch, and Wegecsanyi pouched three catches behind the stumps, but Chertsey moved past the winning draw mark and were left needing three runs from as many balls for victory.
Marshall, who deserved a better return than 1-66 from his 17 overs, had
other ideas, though, and produced some superb death bowling to grab the draw.
Other results: Chertsey 160, Worcester Park 2nd XI 116-9 (H. Steel 49; Chipstead & Coulsdon 146 (Brinkley 35, Smith 37), Worcester Park 3rd XI 108 (D. Daniell 23, G. Hill 31); Geoffrey 5-35).
