RICHMOND Rugby Club have just completed a major tour of Canada winning four matches against top-quality opposition.

Richmond got off to a good start with victory over British Columbia Rugby Union Under 21s, who defeating them18-8 in the Thunderbird Stadium before the Canada v Scotland Test. Then came the game against Meraloma Club in which Richmond made probably the best 25- minute start they have ever produced, before going on to win 30-20.

Richmond's following game against Crimson Tide, who themselves had an unbeaten record, was a close one but they were triumphant 27-22. Crimson, who included two international players from the Canada Test side, are top of the Rugby Canada Super League.

In the final game Richmond mastered Capelano 34-19 in a temperature of 33 degrees.

Former Richmond player Dan Taberner has been elected secretary of Oxford University RFC for the 2002/3 season. Dan is determined to lead Oxford to a fourth successive win at Twickenham, last achieved 50 years ago.

One of his duties is to raise operating funds from various sponsorship packages available to businesses and he would like to hear from any company principles wishing to get on board. More details can be obtained from Dan on 07711 696246.
