AFTER a race long struggle the Hounslow 100 mile time trial was won by Pete Read Racing's Joel Wainman, whose time of 3hrs 51min 1 sec just beat Hounslow's Paul Holdsworth (3.52.36).
Holdsworth did have the consolation of leading his club to the team prize with the support of Lawrence Winterbottom (4.05.16) and Steve Batsford (04.05.59).
The event, which attracted 90 entries, was held on an Oxford based course using the A34 and A20 roads.
Fastest veteran was Ian Hallam (GS Strada), riding his first 100 at the age of 53 and clocking 4.00.14. The veterans' standard prize went to Cliff Tremaine (Kettering CC) with a plus of 92 minutes 6 seconds, and fastest lady was Liz Milne (GS Strada) with (04.14.07).
The riders had to resist a strong South West wind which made it hard-going from the 50 mile point to the Swindon turn at 75 miles.
