THE Mid Surrey Ladies had an excellent victory in the quarter finals of the Travelsphere away to Supreme.
P Busby beat B Clewley 21-12 in the singles, while in the fours J Bradshaw, V Hall, M Goodchild and D Harris defeated G Beddall & Co. 21-17.
In the pairs A Kearns and Iris Collins finished only five shots behind to P Spencer and B Astill and the triples J Prosser, E Wheaton, and J Rhymes went down by three shots to J Annand & Co. The overall score was 2-2, with Mid Surrey winning by five shots to earn a semi-final place at Coulsdon BC on July 14th.
Brian Lawton held his Captain's Day last Saturday, inviting six rinks from local clubs Putney Town (2), North Sheen, Sunbury, Hanworth and London Irish BA. The winning team was B Drennan, R O'Connell, B Moody and B Baxter from the London Irish BA, while second place went to L Mead, G Morgan, T Stoner and D Todd from Sunbury Sports.
On Sunday at Ember Sports BC. John Fox, Edward Crocker and Adrian Blakeborough just lost out to a triple from Purley BC.
Brian Baker, Richard Phillips and Brian Lawton had a better result in the Sunday morning Putney Triples, gaining a close victory over North Sheen. Mid Surrey's match later in the afternoon resulted in a good win for Priory Park in a friendly three mixed triples.
Mid-Surrey's first TV Triple League resulted in a draw against Hounslow Conservatives. Mike Bolton just lost out to B Harblett (10-18) and Brian Lawton 16-17. At home Timmy Orr and Arthur McConnachie beat A Hughes and D Barnett resulting in a 4.4 points score.
Paul Reeves beat Bill Hewlett from Priory Park 21-6 in the Surrey Champion of Champions, and Wynne Richards overcame J. Gunnard (P. Park) 23-12 in the Surrey Triples. In the RB & District singles Des Hunter defeated Jimmy Lant (Putney Town) by 21-14, while Richard Phillips beat President Mike Bolton 21-16 in the Club Open Singles.
Other results: RB & Dist Triples - Graham Greenwood, Des Hunter and Brian Lawton lost to Ben Bullock, Fred Morgans and Mick Harris; National Mixed Pairs - Ray Ash and Pat Busby beat Supreme's Brenda and Derek Clewley 20-15; Surrey Benevolent Triples - Jean Bett, Margaret Goodchild and Iris Collins won 16-10; Surrey Fours - Mid-Surrey beat Supreme 24-20; Surrey Pairs - Wynne Richards beat K Hartfield 26-9.
