RHYME took over from reason for children and parents with the final stages of a primary school poetry contest.
All 480 pupils at Green Street Green Primary School, Vine Road, had to select a poem to read to an audience as part of the contest, aimed at boosting confidence and interest in the subject. After a gruelling series of rounds, overall winners were picked from each class and section of the school.
They performed before a packed hall of parents and teachers.
School spokesman Victoria Marsh said: "All the children really enjoyed the event and we were surprised at the amount of variety in the poems they chose."
