Fulham Ladies have signed possibly the most recognised name in women's football to spearhead their attack next season.
Marianne Spacey has left the Cottagers' main rivals Arsenal and signed a one-year contract with the west London side.
The former England inter-national striker, capped 91 times by her country, has been brought in to replace Fulham's top goalscorer last season Marianne Pettersen.
Pettersen returned to her native Norway at the start of the summer after helping Fulham to win the FA Cup, League Cup, National League South Division title and the London County Cup.
Spacey, who in her eight years with the Gunners lifted the FA Cup five times, said: "Obviously, it was a very difficult decision to leave Arsenal.
"Last season, I considered retiring, but I never expected this kind of opportunity to arise. To be given the chance to play professional football was something I had to consider.
"I feel I still have a lot to offer Fulham and have found my enthusiasm rejuvenated by this opportunity."
Fulham manager Gaute Haugenes, who has also been linked with Spacey's Arsenal team mate Angela Banks, said: "Marianne's footballing credentials are excellent and I am sure she will be a great addition to the squad. Her experience and commitment to the game will benefit the team."
Last season, Spacey picked up a hat trick of awards the AXA National League Premeir Division Top Scorer, the AXA Players' Player Of The Year and the <a href="http://<a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk"">http://www.bbc.co.uk"</a> target="_blank">BBC</a> Sport Relief Special Achievement Award.
She will begin pre-season training with her new club on Monday.
