Spaniard Juan Carlos Aguero was delighted to win a regional qualifying round of The Open Golf Championship this week, held at Hadley Wood Golf Club.
However, after completing his round in a two-under-par 70, to claim joint first place, Aguero discovered that he should not have been playing in the first place.
He took part in The Open at Royal Lytham last year and should have gone straight into the final qualifying tournament.
Former QPR and Chelsea footballer Roy Wegerle, who played in the 1994 and 1998 World Cups for the USA, also played at Hadley Wood but carded a five-over-par 77.
