Brentham 92 Barnet 86
Middlesex County League Division Two
Barnet will never have a better chance of winning but after dismissing Brentham for 92, their fragile batting failed again and they lost by six runs.
From 54-2, Brentham crashed to 92 all out, victims of the hostile bowling of teenagers Darren Gerard (2-18) and Johan Thisanayagam (2-18) and well supported by skipper Arif Hassan (3-32).
Barnet soon succumbed to the fine bowling of Ricky Fay (4-27), the league's leading wicket-taker.
Even so, at 64-3, victory was there for the taking.
Sadly, the departure of Faron Defreitas for an entertaining 43 off only 50 balls changed the whole complexion of the game.
At 79-5, disaster struck when D Rodgers (4-8) took a hat-trick and Barnet slumped to defeat. Bottom of the table, they are 18 points below the safety net.
Uxbridge II 205-7 dec; Barnet II 166.
Alexandra Park 136 Mill Hill Village 140-3
Middlesex Championship Division Two
A convincing seven-wicket win lifted Mill Hill Village into the second promotion spot at the halfway point of the season.
The Village bundled out the visitors for 136 thanks to a top fielding display that featured four run-outs, including two direct hits.
In reply, opener Andy Fish ensured victory with an unbeaten 73. The Village lost to Northwood by 68 runs in the Chess Valley League on Sunday.
They are at home to Edmonton on Saturday before visiting Twickenham in Sunday's third round of the Middlesex Ibex Cup.
