THE Queen's Golden Jubilee year was celebrated with an array of colourful displays at the North Weald Methodist Church flower festival at the weekend.o
A healthy turnout graced the two-day event which raised about £300 for the refurbishment of the church and a new toilet block.
The flower arrangements were themed around the Queen's Jubilee with about a dozen displays created by local residents and members of the church congregation.
Alongside the flower displays children from the church and the local Girls Brigade performed poetry, dance and music shows.
The Sunday family service, which was rounded off with a march through the village by the Girls Brigade members, also proved popular.
One of the helpers, Chris Deacon, said everyone who attended the event had enjoyed themselves.
"I would like to say a big thank you to everybody that helped and took part, a lot of people did a little bit to make the whole come together," she said.
