Film star Bob Hoskins dropped in at Southgate's Chicken Shed Theatre on Thursday to launch a new performing arts course.
Bob Hoskins, who has appeared in countless films including Mermaids and Mona Lisa, was joined by Chariots of Fire director Lord David Puttnam.
The new post graduate course is run in conjunction with Middlesex University and offers students the chance to study the philosophy and practice of inclusivity in the performing arts.
The inclusivity programme is the latest in a growing partnership between the university's school of lifelong learning education and Southgate's Chicken Shed theatre company.
Hoskins and Puttnam were also joined by Middlesex University vice-chancellor Professor Michael Driscoll, Lord Robin Corbett, MP for Erdington, and Kim Evans, executive director of arts at the Arts Council of England.
Susan Hill of the Chicken Shed said: "Bob has been a supporter of the Chicken Shed for many years and was delighted to learn that we were starting this course.
"We are an educational establishment as well as a thriving theatre."
Bob Hoskins and guests were treated to a short tour of the theatre and were given the chance to look in on rehearsals for forthcoming productions.
