THE chairman of Bromley Hospital has announced he is going to stand down on July 31.
Selwyn Ward has been chairman of Bromley Hospitals NHS Trust since March 2001. He decided to stand down because of increased work commitments as a publisher, writer and school inspector.
Dennis Barkway, who is currently a non-executive director, will act as trust chairman until a replacement for Selwyn Ward is found.
Mr Ward said: "It is with much regret that I have decided to stand down as trust chairman.
"I have enjoyed the challenges of chairing an acute trust and I know the trust has a good team and is well set to face the challenges of the NHS modernisation agenda.
"I wish them well as they face the exciting prospect of a new hospital within the coming year."
Hospital chief executive Mark Rees thanked Mr Ward for the contribution he has made to the trust.
