A 100-YEAR-OLD plann-ing vision for the river Thames between Kew and Chelsea was formally launched at the borough's Wetland Centre last Friday, the result of three years of research and consultation.
The Thames Strategy from Kew to Chelsea sets out a range of policies and projects designed to protect and enhance this stretch of the Thames.
The strategy promotes a holistic approach to the complex balance of river management planning and usage.
The launch at The Barnes Wetland Centre marked the culmination of three years of research, development and consultation. The high profile event brought together leading representatives from the Greater London Authority the Government Office for London, the Environment Agency, English Heritage, the Port of London Authority, West London River Group, officers and councillors from the participating riparian councils, many local interest groups and developers.
Roger Weston chair of the Thames Strategy Steering Committee said: "The strategy sets out policies and projects for the future enhancement of the river and its hinterland, and proposes mechanisms for ongoing public involvement and the implementation of its proposals. "
