STUDENTS are wearing their mortar boards as they take part in their very own 'Graduation Day.'
The youngsters, all Year 6 pupils at Downsell Road Junior School, took part in the unique ceremony yesterday (Wednesday July 10) morning.
As each of the children stepped on stage to receive their 'graduation' certificate at the Leyton school, they turned the tassels on their mortar boards to one side, in the same way university students do.
The 'Graduation Day', was the brainchild of headteacher Mrs Usha Sahgal, who wanted to give the children, who will be starting secondary school in September, a unique leavers event.
