Blackheath Cricket Club will be hosting the first London Floodlit 6s at the Rectory Field on Friday, August 2.

This unique six-a-side event in the club cricket calender will be sponsored by Aldwych Financial Services

Last year's event proved to be a triumph for the multi-talented Maidstone-based Lashings side, which included former West Indies captain Jimmy Adams, Pakistani pace bowler Shoiab Akhtar, South African opening batsmen Herschelle Gibbs, as well as West Indies Test stars Junior Murray and Stuart Williams in its squad.

Invited teams this year include the MCC, a Kent Invitation side, a British West Indies Airlines Invitation team, as well as the cream of club cricket sides in the south Saffron Walden, Finchley and the powerful Teddington Cricket Club.

The list of players participating is a mouth watering prospect for cricket supporters.

They include Minel Patel, Channel 4 commentator Andy Whittall, South African quickie David Terbrugge, Jason Pooley from Middlesex, seasoned ex-pros in Somerset's Simon Ecclestone and ex-Derby-shire all-rounder Matt Vandrau, as well as the promise of an appearance from one of the all-time greats of West Indian cricket, Alvin Kalicharran and Collis King.
