ENGLISH Heritage has launched its 12th edition of their Risk Register for important buildings it feels are in danger from decay and neglect.

Since the launch of the London scheme over ten years ago, around 1,000 buildings have been identified as at risk.

A new BBC programme, Restoration, will highlight the plight of London's forgotten buildings. The series is to be screened next year.

The Regional Director of English Heritage, Philip Davies, said local authorites have a role to play in protecting important buildings as a quarter of those on the London register are in public ownership.
