World Party brings an exciting mix of jazz, world, funk and dance to Lloyd Park, Coombe Road, Croydon on Saturday, July 13, with a melting pot of styles and global vibes.

Green Fair, global market, kids area and international unexpected performance, are all on the menu to make this a great day out for all.

The event is free and is open from 1pm to 8pm. Highlight on the main stage is Virtuoso saxophonist Courtney Pine.

He brings his extraordinary talents to head up World Party.

Having played with both funk and reggae bands, and explored a unique fusion of sounds, Courtney's interest in breaking down musical barriers is clear.

With a string of awards under his belt, including a Mercury Music Prize, two MOBOS and OBE, Courtney continues to be trumpeted as an inspirational, innovative musician.Other performers on the main stage include:

Recently signed to hip record label Ninja Tune, this 20 strong, multi instrumentalist orchestra are a live experience not to be missed.

o Mabulu

Nominated for best newcomer at BBC Radio 3's World Music Awards 2001, Mozambique collective Mabulu is causing a stir with their unique blend of contagious African rhythms and Mozambican hip-hop.

o James Taylor Quartet

Hammond Guru James Taylor brings his sunshine driven acid jazz to Croydon for an afternoon spell of up-tempo funk instrumentals.

o Asere

This lively Cuban band fuse traditional Cuban music with modern Cuban beats look out fro tracks from their album Cuban Soul.

This Caribbean crooner is one not be missed. Her voice transports you through reggae to soul jazz.

o Bobby Friction

The outlandish DJ mixes up a heady cocktail of bhangra, drum and bass, funk and break beats.

o Mangoes Reef

Get dancing with the up tempo Brazillian dance act.

The Green Fair

This year's Green Fair has a theme of greener eating and living.

Look out for environmental crafts, massage, beauty and bikes to ride.

Also not to be missed is the ever-popular accoustic stage which will showcase local talent.

Other entertainment on offer includes the funfair, the children's area and fresh food stalls.
