A SOUTHGATE school is celebrating after receiving an excellent report from Ofsted, the schools watchdog.
St Andrew's Primary School in Chase Road was described as a 'jewel' by one of the visiting inspectors and it was said to have no weaknesses on which it needs to improve.
The inspection, which took place in April, found that some of the school's particular strengths and achievements were:
a significant proportion of pupils reached standards far above national levels
the leadership of the headteacher was excellent and the inspired management by key staff was a "strength of the school"
the excellent standard of teaching was found to have a positive impact on achievement
procedures for assessment were excellent and pupils' learning was tracked rigorously throughout the school
pupils were very well-prepared for life in a multi-cultural society.
Inspectors also found that results in English, maths and science were above average or better at both Key Stage One and Two, and pupils were reaching high levels in all subjects by the time they left.
Pupils were said to be well-disciplined and had pride and consideration for others, and talented pupils were challenged.
Susan Chambers, headteacher of St Andrew's, said: "The Ofsted inspector congratulated us on continuing to sustain high academic standards.
"I am delighted that the hard work and dedication of everyone members of staff, governors, parents and pupils has been acknowledged."
Liz Graham, director of education in Enfield, said: "We congratulate St Andrew's School on a fantastic Ofsted report.
"The head, staff and governors have worked extremely hard to maintain such excellent standards."
