THREE Valleys Water has begun relaying mains at the junction of Harrow View, Headstone Gardens and Headstone Drive in North Harrow.
Tests carried out after a trunk main was renewed last year showed it needed replacing. To minimise traffic disruption, Harrow Council asked for the project to be timed to coincide with traffic light renewal at the Quadrant by Transport for London, an agency of the Greater London Authority.
No road closures are anticipated, and Three Valleys has written to local businesses about the work, which is due to be completed before Watford Council begins resurfacing Pinner Road in Watford Heath, the main route between the two town centres, on Monday.
Pinner Road will be closed at its junction with Oxhey Lane for 10 weeks, during which traffic will be diverted through Bushey.
Three Valleys is inspecting water mains between Headstone Gardens and Wealdstone to see if any other work needs to be done and said it would keep residents informed of developments.
