WATFORD boxer Ojay Abrahams came face to face with a host of international boxing stars on Monday night at a testimonial dinner for Michael Watson the boxer who faced life threatening injuries after a fight with Chris Eubank in 1991.
Mr Abrahams, who made his professional debut on the same bill as the Eubank versus Watson fight, was joined by local businessmen Mr Richard Franklin, of R and R Transport, and Mr John O'Shea, of Traders of Watford, and their guests on a table which raised £1,000 for Mr Watson.
Guests at the dinner were able to mingle with some of the biggest names in boxing including Watson himself, Lennox Lewis, Chris Eubank, Joe Calzaghe, Prince Naseem and Barry McGuigan.
Mr Abrahams said: "The evening was fantastic.
"I think everyone really enjoyed it, but for me, it was more of an emotional experience because I was there in the hospital when Michael Watson was clinging to life after the fight in 1991.
"The evening brought back a lot of memories for me.
"I felt happy and proud to be there because Michael was a big influence on me when I first got into the sport. He showed me the ropes.
"I visited him when he was in hospital and I think of him as a mate.
"I saw him at the dinner and he recognised me straight away. I gave him one my videos and had a chat with him and his mother."
