Yet another crash on the notorious Banstead Road in Carshalton has angered residents who are currently petitioning Sutton Council for traffic calming measures.
Sutton police were called to an accident on the junction of Banstead Road and Harrow Road on Monday at 8am, which left two women in shock.
And according to Lynne Fletcher, who is one of the main co-ordinators of the movement, residents are furious as they feel the council is "dragging its feet" while drivers use the road as a "banger race track."
She said: "It's ridiculous. We have been totally left in the air and while we wait for the council to do something, it leaves time for more accidents to occur."
At the Carshalton and Clockhouse Area Committee, which was held at Carshalton College on June 20, the council decided a consultation with local residents was required before any action is taken.
A council spokesman said: "Residents will be able to look at plans, displays and possibly models, at a location still to be decided in September."
Their comments will be taken on board and a final decision about the traffic calming measures will be made at a meeting due to be scheduled later this year.
