Carshalton College came in for praise from former pupil and TV star Richard Blackwood at an awards ceremony for ex-further education students.
The TV presenter was at the House of Commons to pick up the Association of College's Gold Alumni Award, an accolade given annually to people who have gone into further education and gone on to successful careers.
Mr Blackwood studied business and finance at Carshalton College, receiving the diploma in 1990.
He said: "I don't want to disrespect any of the other colleges here today but Carshalton College is the best!
"It's great to see my old tutor here and this brings back some excellent memories. College helped me gain the confidence you need to deal with people in my industry."
He was fondly remembered by staff at the awards ceremony, who recall his quick wit and friendly attitude.
His old tutor, Don Seabright was among them and spent time catching up with the star.
He said: "He's a super bloke. He was one of those students whom you were sure would go far."
In Carshalton College's prospectus, Mr Blackwood wrote: "I went to Carshalton College and it was one of the best choices I ever made, it really helped me to focus on my ambitions.
"I had a great time there too. My tutors were really friendly and helpful. The facilities were pretty good back then but now they're fantastic."
