Eighteen-year-old Mark Spate is one of a handful of young people who devote their time to bringing a voice to foster children in Sutton.
Mark (pictured) is a regular editor of My Shout magazine, a publication dedicated to covering issues affecting children in care.
"We're always looking for more contributions because the magazine must provide what looked-after children want to read. Judging by the letters we received they really seem to enjoy it," said Mark, who has first-hand experience of being a foster child after spending 12 years in care.
The idea of launching such a magazine came from the children themselves and their involvement with a network of local support workers. Published every three months, it is sent out to all the borough's foster children, those working in children's services and all Sutton councillors.
A small editorial board of young people and support workers meet on a regular basis to plan each issue.
One of its board members is Eny Osung, who also spent time in care as a child.
"I've seen it grow so much thanks to the young people who send in articles, poems, stories and pictures. My Shout offers the chance to let off steam and write about their experiences."
