A riot of colour will greet people who visit a national collection of day lilies that will be on display for the first time at Shadbolt Park, in Worcester Park, on Sunday, July 14.
The collection, which is tied in with the National Council for the Conservation of Plants and Gardens, has been developed over the last five years by Roger Stedman, Epsom and Ewell Borough Council's parks development officer, better known as the horticultural brains behind the Herald of Spring festival, held annually at Bourne Hall.
Mr Stedman added: "Now the collection is well established, I feel this wonderful sight should be enjoyed by others. Next year our open day might be a little earlier so the public can have a view of the earlier varieties."
The garden will be open between 10.30am and 4.30pm and people arriving early enough will be able to buy some of the plants. Anyone wishing to see the collection at any other time can call 01372 732000.
