LANGLEYBURY came within one wicket of toppling league leaders West Herts in the Home Counties Premier Division Two East clash at Hunton Bridge on Saturday, July 13.
Stephen Lowe, Hertfordshire's answer to Alec Stewart, struck a majestic 84 as Langleybury posted a total of 207-6.
Richard Jerome then took five wickets as West Herts stumbled in their reply and eventually held on for a draw at 166-9.
The two sides resume their rivalry on Thursday, July 18 when they meet in the semi-final of The Watford Observer MET Linden Homes Cricket Knockout Competition at Chipperfield Cricket Club.
West Herts remain joint-top of the HCPL Division Two East table with Hemel Hempstead, who enjoyed the better of their drawn encounter with defending champions Hertford after Mike Dale had cracked a glorious 133 not out.
