A Lambeth charity has spent the past few months watching paint dry - and couldn't be more delighted.
Community Re>Paint was launched in March to recycle leftover paint and redistribute it to local community groups. The appeal has been so successful that in just three months more than 700 tins of paint have been distributed to schools, women's refuges, youth groups and community organisations.
As a result of the success the charity is launching a new appeal for more local projects to come forward to help put their growing paint mountain to good use.
Assistant Manager at Lambth Community Recycling Natasza Letowt-Vorbek said: "We are really pleased by the huge response we received in terms of donated paint and also by the number of groups we have already helped.
"But because of the amount of paint being given to us, we are appealing for more groups to come forward. It is better to know that the paint, which would have been sent to a landfill site, is being used to brighten up Lambeth instead."
