YOUNG artist Harmander Singh Ratten, 11, was presented with a £50 cheque on behalf of his school, Thomas Gamuel Primary in Walthamstow, for his award-winning designs highlighting road safety.
Waltham Forest Council will make Harmander's design into a sign for the Boundary Road area to encourage drivers to think of school children's welfare.
The competition was organised by the council and the housing action trust, in order to promote road safety. Pupils were asked to draw and design a road safety sign without using the colour red.
The runners-up were Tom Simon, 11, and Majhabeen Zamen, 11.
Head teacher Anne Morgan said she thought the competition was, "a great idea."
