London's mayor and assembly have opened up shop in new premises today.
The pristine building at London More, which has been compared to both a headlamp and a fencing mask, was built at a cost of £7.8million by top architect Norman Foster.
City Hall - as Ken Livingstone hopes the building will come to be known, although the City is in fact a tiny part of Greater London - is open to the public, with a viewing platform on the top floor, accessed by lifts and ramps.
The mayor and London's representatives will carry out their work on the open-plan floors below.
The building is to be officially opened by the queen on July 23rd.
