KARATE and judo displays were among the entertainment at Gravesend's Summer Grand Slam 2002.
Gravesend's town centre was full of sports activities on Saturday including fencing, rugby and football displays.
The event, in New Road and King Street, was organised by Gravesend Grand Slam Group, which brings together hundreds of sports clubs in the borough.
Organiser Andy Clement-Bishop said: "The day was a resounding success. More than a thousand people turned up and the weather was fantastic.
"There were lots of demonstrations including displays by boys' and girls' rugby clubs, Gravesend Rowing Club and Gravesend Sailing Club.
"There were at least five different types of martial arts displays including tae kwando, judo and karate. And there were displays by local anglers."
He added: "It really was a fun day and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves."
