As a local musician, I am appalled and shocked to learn of Barnet Council's proposed plans to convert North Finchley's new arts centre, the artsdepot, into a library.
The artsdepot would offer fantastic opportunities for myself, young musicians and bands to rehearse, perform and develop work in fully-equipped spaces.
I have performed at The Bull arts centre but due to lack of space and its busy programme, opportunities are limited.
Therefore when I heard of The Bull's plans to expand into the larger, more central building and develop its programme I was pleased, not only as a musician, but also looking forward to the wider range of acts performing.
I cannot understand why the council thinks that another library would be more beneficial than a new arts centre, especially as The Bull seems to be the only professional venue in the borough and there is already a lot of support for the artsdepot.
