If Will Young or Gareth Gates really wanted to make it as Pop Idols then they should have gone along to the Colour House Theatre.
And while they were there they could have auditioned in front of Fairy Waterman and Fairy Fox, both of whom appear in the new show Sleeping Beauty and the Fairy Idol Prince.
This is a modern twist on the fairy story and script writer Adam Pepper has pulled out all the stops to transform this classic tale and bring it right up to date with a strong Pop Idol theme. The story follows the original until the prince decides to become a fairy in order to try and help Sleeping Beauty, but first he must audition in front of two ruthless judges, Fairy Waterman and Fairy Fox.
This is the 40th children's show to have been staged by Wheelhouse Productions since they started in 1995 so it is something of a milestone.
All their shows are based on fairy tales with newly written soundtracks. So far they have written more than 200 new songs.
Sleeping Beauty and the Fairy Idol Prince promises to be the most entertaining yet.
