HARRY Cohen says that he is getting fit and hopes to inspire people to lead a healthier lifestyle.
The Leyton MP is concerned about high levels of diabetes and obesity in the UK and the resulting cost to the national health service.
He says that the only way to encourage people to change their lifestyles is through a 'community' based approach. This could include campaigns in local authorities, schools and local papers.
Mr Cohen claims that he now exercises regularly and wants others to do the same.
People should be taught how to have a good diet, should be encouraged to give up smoking and gyms should be more accessible, he said.
