DO you like reading, enjoy the company of children and have some time to spare?
If the answer is yes then you could become a Volunteer Reading Helper.
The Waltham Forest branch of the charity are currently recruiting more volunteers to join their training course in mid-September.
Branch organiser Sue Sherrington said: "We currently have approximately 60 volunteers working in local Primary School, but we are constantly seeking more volunteers to maintain and extend the service in order to give even more children the chance to discover that reading can be fun.
"Each volunteer reading helper visits a local primary school for two mornings or afternoons per week to help the same three children on a one to one basis.
"Each session is spent sharing books, playing games and chatting. Gradually, as the children's confidence and self esteem grows, they discover the joy of reading.
"If you have the time to spare and enjoy reading, this is a wonderful opportunity to share your enthusiasm for books with some of our local children."
