ARCHAEOLOGISTS armed with trowels and spades have spent three days digging in Greenwich for a Channel 4 programme.
Members of Time Team, which is headed by actor Tony Robinson, were excavating sites at the National Maritime Museum and Old Royal Naval College, last week.
Dozens of archaeologists, from the show and the Museum of London, were searching for Henry VIII's armoury on the site of what would have been Greenwich Palace.
Unfortunately, as there was not enough time to get down to the 16th Century armoury, the team only got as far as some 18th Century latrines.
But they did find bits of Tudor green pottery as a well as section of wall, which would have formed part of the tilt yard, where jousting tournaments were held.
An exhibition, Greenwich Palace Revealed, tells the story of Henry VIII's Palace of Placentia, at the Greenwich Gateway Visitor Centre from 10am to 5pm, daily.
The display which looks at England's first armoury and the spectacular jousting displays will run until early spring, when the programme will be aired.
