THE gardens at Waltham Forest Register Office in Grove Road, Walthamstow, will be open to the public on Sunday, July 21, under the National Gardens Scheme.

The garden was first planted in 1996 but soon became a dumping ground for litter. After a major clean-up campaign the garden is now a "green oasis."

Admission is £1 for adults and 50p for children. All entrance fees go directly to the charities of the National Garden Scheme.
