A Carshalton resident is to receive a special award from the Archbishop of Canterbury at Lambeth Palace on July 29, in recognition of her long contribution to the parish.
Jill Hale, who has been one of the church wardens at Carshalton All Saints' Church since 1980, only found out last month that she had been awarded the Cross Of Saint Augustine when she received a personal letter from the Archbishop himself in June inviting her to a ceremony at the palace's chapel.
