EVEN by the high standards of this season, Hounslow turned in a superb display to hammer Caversham and Redingensians by a little matter of 202 runs in their Morrant Thames Valley League Division 2B game at Church Meadow on Saturday.
Buds Abeysekera, who has been in good form of late, was out just three short of a century, while West Indian all-rounder Darrel Brown contributed a fine 65 to enable the closure to be made at 238-4 after just 45 overs, giving Hounslow 55 overs to bowl out their visitors. As it turned out, they only needed 22.5 overs to accomplish that task. Brown followed his innings with a return of 6-26 as his pace and lift proved too much for the Caversham batsmen. They were skittled for 36 and Hounslow once again looked like the league leaders they are. It really was impressive stuff.
