THOUSANDS of people revelled in the sunshine at the 50th anniversary of Hayes Carnival.

The celebration, held on Saturday at Barra Hall Park, was a great success, with people young and old across the borough turning out to enjoy the festivities.

The carnival started off with a procession of floats that left Pump Lane and passed along through the streets of Hayes before ending up at Wood End Green Road.

Kids and adults alike enjoyed rides at the giant funfair and wandered around the vintage car display, while horses raced in chariots and gladiators dualled in the warm sunshine.

There was live music throughout the day, including the Havering Marching Band, the West Drayton Brass Band and three different tribute shows dedicated to Kylie, Robbie Williams and Elvis Presley.

The 50th anniversary carnival ended with a spectacular fireworks display set to music, and a laser show projected on to Barra Hall.
