TEAMS from Richmond, Kingston and Hounslow all claimed medals at the London Heathrow Mini Games at Crystal Palace Sports Centre on last week.
Richmond won gold in the mini hockey event and silver in the basketball, while Hounslow gained silver in boccia (a game similar to bowls for people with disabilities) and Kingston picked up bronze in basketball. Richmond also came joint third in the mini football event
.Over 3,000 8-11 year olds competed in the games which act as a prelude to the finals this Saturday and Sunday. Medals were presented by the Queen who attended as part of her Jubilee. Results for Richmond, Hounslow and Kingston were: Boccia - Hounslow 2nd, Kingston 8th; Sportshall Athletics - Richmond 16th, Kingston 21st, Hounslow, 22nd; Basketball - Richmond 2nd, Kingston 3rd, Hounslow joint 14th; Mini Football - Richmond joint 3rd, Hounslow joint 9th, Kingston 19th; Mini Hockey - Richmond 1st, Kingston 5th, Hounslow 10th; Netball - Kingston and Richmond joint 9th, Hounslow joint 22nd. Mini Rugby - Hounslow and Richmond joint 5th, Kingston joint 15th; Swimming - Richmond 5th, Kingston 8th, Hounslow 12th.
