Today I could hardly believe my eyes to what must be a major influence on our council tax hike this year.

Personally I find them quite convenient although I wasn't over keen on having them forced upon me initially.

However, to see what must have been 1,000 bins, if not more, stacked in piles of eight or nine just gathering dust, brought to mind a rather strong element of doubt about the competence of our council's asset management.

It would be very interesting to hear from our local councillors why we have such a massive surplus sitting at the dump. Not being an expert in wheelie bins I have no idea how much one costs, but I am sure I would rather have my money back, be it £2 or £10 a bin.

I was very tempted to go back and take a picture to send to the Guardian, but I think a quick trip down there would give you a better idea of the scale.

From another ripped off, taxpaying resident.
