FAIRS/FETE

Saturday(13th): St Margarets Fair runs on Moormead, 12 noon- 5pm. 8241 1042 The day includes five a side football tournament, helter skelter, fairground fun, beer and tea tents, mini train and live entertainment. Entertainment and commentary by Radio West Middlesex. Come and say hello at the Richmond and Twickenham Times stand.

Saturday(13th): Summer Fair 1pm-3pm at St John's and Amyand Houses for elderly people with mental health needs, Strafford Road, Twickenham. Cakes, preserves, plants, refreshments, gifts, bric a brac, books, raffle etc. Organised by St John's House League of Friends.

Saturday(13th): Barnes Fair 9am-5pm around the pond. Nearly 3,000 royal balloons will help celebrate the Queen's golden jubilee, including 750 as part of a balloon race. Floats will reflect the jubilee theme. Grand parade 10.30am and there is a children's art competition. Entries will be on show at the Old Sorting Office Arts Centre. Plus 280 stalls, helter skelter, merry go round with gallopers, pony rides, miniature train, competitions, music and food.

Tuesday(23rd): Snow leopards, tigers and wildlife trade is the subject of an illustrated lecture presented by the WWF (World Wildlife Fund) at 7.30pm in The Vestry Room, 21 Paradise Road, Richmond. The WWF's campaign director David Cowdrey and Wildlife Trade Campaign co-ordinator Kirsty Clough will give the presentation on work with endangered cats in Asia. Tickets £3 and must be booked.
