Whitgift School were crowned national schools champions when they lifted the Calypso Cricket Cup at Headingley last Thursday, beating rivals Hymers College, Hull by nine wickets.
Hymers set a target of 166-7, with captain Adam Greendale showing the way with 52 not out.
Whitgift's bowling added almost as much to Hymers' total, with 51 wides and no balls being recorded.
But Nick Ivey proved relentless, taking 3-41 in seven overs.
Whitgift's response was rapid, with opener Lewis Foster finding the boundary time and again in an impressive 63 not out.
Foster was well supported by fellow opener Jonathan Gunasekera, who added 52 before being caught, as Whitgift cruised home.
The 35-over match was the culmination of two years of games in which teams from more than 1,200 schools played their way through a series of county, regional and national rounds.
Whitgift last won the cup in 1998 and reached the semi-finals in 2000.
