Prisoners at HMP The Mount in Bovingdon will exhibit their artwork at an exhibition this month.

The Mount Bovingdon visitors' centre association is displaying artwork produced by local artists and inmates at the prison in Molyneaux Avenue.

Artlink aims to create a link between the community in Bovingdon and prisoners at The Mount.

The exhibition will give visitors from the local area an opportunity to view amateur artwork that emphasises the similarities between the inmates and their local community.

Centre Manager Jane Taylor is encouraging as many people as possible to come along to the event to "support this local initiative and discover first hand potential famous artists of the future".

Proceeds from the exhibition will help fund the visitors' centre at the prison, which provides help and support for the families and friends of prisoners.

The Mayor of Dacorum, Councillor Catherine Appleby, will open the exhibition on Tuesday, July 23, at 2pm.

The exhibition will be open from 2pm to 5pm and 7pm to 10pm on Tuesday and Wednesday, July 24.

Entry to the exhibition is free, although catalogues are £1 each. All ages are welcome and visitors may have the chance to purchase some of the artwork. Refreshments will be available.
