Residents have slammed Croydon Council for their delay in installing traffic calming measures in Pawsons Road.
More than 60 people packed the function room of the Lion Inn, Pawsons Road, on July 11, to demand traffic calming measures on the street they say experiences an accident every three weeks.
Residents claim the council's desire to wait for funding from developers of the Queen's Road Hospital site, has delayed the introduction of speed cushions.
The council say they approached Pawsons' residents four years ago, but not enough people requested traffic calming measures.
Cabinet member for Highways and Traffic, Councillor Gerry Ryan said: "We have asked Pawsons Road residents to write letters in support of traffic calming and if we get a good response we can go further.
"Speed cushions would be a good option for the road.We would like to see measures in place by the end of the fiscal year, if not the end of this year."
Conservatives have slammed the traffic management committee for missing out on funds that could be used for traffic calming by only bidding for the same amount of funding from Transport for London as they had spent last year.
Coun Gerry Ryan dismissed Conservative's claim saying: "I would be looking into it if there was any information to support the idea that officers hadn't made a bid to try to get as much as we could."
