Norbury charity Action on Elder Abuse (AEA) is appealing for volunteers to work on its helpline.

The national charity, which focuses on stamping out abuse of older people, needs extra staff to man the line to cope with a rise in users.

Specially trained operators are on hand to give information and support to callers as well as provide a crucial listening service. But applicants should bear in mind the work can be stressful at times. The organisation would like to hear from people with good listening skills as well as an interest in learning older people's issues.

Potential volunteers will be invited for interview and will be asked to provide the names and addresses of two reliable references.

To apply call 020 8765 7000.If you are worried about elder abuse contact the dedicated free helpline Monday to Friday, between 10am and 4.30pm on 080 8808 8141.
